Close to the village centre and the peaceful natural beauty of the Oude Landen, it's an ideal place to combine work and family.
De Grooff House, built in 1836 for steward Antonius Harrewijn, is one of the oldest houses in Ekeren. In 1885, master builder Théophile De Grooff put his stamp on this imposing residence. In 2011, the building was completely renovated in collaboration with architects.
Central corridor with original tiled floor and imposing staircase. Country kitchen with dining area, AGA electric cooker, bluestone and oak. Laundry room with side entrance: useful for bikes or scooters.
In the living room with a slight neoclassical touch, enjoy the fireplace, which overlooks the large garden (SW). Neo-Flemish Renaissance-style dining room, with card room, low panelled walls; the initials of De Grooff inside; a blue border with gilded texts by Jacob Cats, a 17th-century writer famous for his proverbs and sayings... Every part of this house exudes history, and behind every ceiling painting is a legend.....
At +1: master bedroom with en suite bathroom, dressing table and 2 spacious bedrooms (1 of which is now a study). At +2, 2 further large attic bedrooms and a bathroom with bath and shower.
Each floor has access to the modern study to the right of the building. Separate entrance, lift, 4 consulting rooms, renovated to perfection in 2011 - you can start here. Service road to rear, and permission for carport and annexe already approved.
