Description

Located in a quiet, dead-end street, behind the dike, on the Grote Geule, listed nature reserve to admire from your backyard. In the friendly village of Kieldrecht you have everything within walking distance. At the same time 20' from Antwerp, near the Dutch border, Ghent, Sint-Niklaas, Zeeland, Hulst and the polders. Port area in the proximity.

The simple facade in black slate and white entrance gate of this unique architect's house do not immediately reveal that an exceptional house with split levels and high level of finishing is hidden here. Dirk Engelen of B-bis Architects, one of our country's leading architectural firms, was responsible for the design. The striking, frosted glass side facade provides a unique conservatory feel, the winter garden filters sunlight and creates a pleasant living environment. Hallway with concrete “grandstand,” a recurring element in this home. Stairs down: guest toilet and additional space (storage or guest room). Ground floor with sublime living kitchen, stretched over the entire wall in a mosaic of different woods.

A few steps up to the living room, where large landscape windows blur the boundary between inside and outside. Large garden with fruit trees and idyllic view over the Creek, an endless green panorama.

Highest level: bathroom with bathtub integrated into the concrete floor and bedroom with blissful sun terrace - hotel vibes included. Shower and toilet are integrated in the wooden closet wall. Carport.

The owners,

owner speaks out

‘The wonderful Creek, our neighbors and the neighborhood feel, the original architecture and the beautiful greenhouse facade with different types of glass and the fun split-levels, living so close to Hulst, Zeeland and beautiful biking and hiking trails.... There are so many things we will miss. From the lounge and sun terrace you seem one with nature - a great place for an aperitif. Then again, at the long dining table in the open kitchen you have room in abundance for parties. Wake up to singing birds, a view of nature and at night a brilliant starry sky. Enjoying the 100% natural pond with water plants and frogs - bliss.

What we found so special about the architect, Dirk Engelen, is that he can and is able to think out-of-the-box. Although at the time he was only doing large projects, we still triggered his interest and he was willing to accept the challenge. And luckily so! It became a fantastic, unique and a tad daring house to live in.’
