Description

IN OPTION - Molenstede, a green borough of Diest and the perfect base in nature, is strategically located between Hasselt and Leuven. Shopping, going to school, train station, culture or Beguinage (UNESCO) in Diest, spotting beavers and storks on the Demer, swimming in De Halve Maan, visiting the abbey of Averbode or Basilica of Scherpenheuvel, everything is within cycling distance.

In 1966, architect Rudi Bertels designed his own dream villa with great attention to detail, aesthetics and functionality. By playing with levels, he managed to perfectly accommodate the height differences of the spacious plot. The result: a stunning dialogue between architecture and nature.

Entrance hall on natural stone. Large living space with lovely sitting pit, wood fire and extra seating space at the large windows, surrounded by a fantastic terrace. Up stairs: dining room and kitchen with handy pantry/laundry room. Half a floor up: night hall with recently renovated bathroom and four bedrooms with nice block parquet, built-in wardrobes (Interlubke) and nice covered terrace connecting all bedrooms. Half a floor below is the architect's study, completely separated from the private areas and with separate entrance: office, reception room and drawing studio with delightful garden view. Double garage and (crawl) basement.

Phenomenal garden with 4 ha of private forest, old fruit trees, red beeches, magnolia, chicken coop, vegetable garden and artful, old chestnut tree. At the very bottom lies the final, amazing surprise: an idyllic green shortcut to railway station, shops and schools.

Architecture here is effortlessly combined with the pristine beauty of the phenomenal garden and your own private 4-hectare forest - a unique place to cherish.

Verbluffende dialoog tussen modernisme en natuur
In this haven, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and in absolute privacy, we experienced truly magical times as a family.

owner speaks out

The lush garden, orchard and surrounding woods are fantastic. Our children had the time of their lives here building camps, at birthday parties, romping, playing and exploring At the stall by the chicken coop were a donkey and goat. Our children named them Antoinette and Floriaan, based on a fun children's book. In this haven, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and in absolute privacy, we experienced truly magical times as a family. How lucky we were to be able to offer our children such a carefree, peaceful childhood in the greenery here.
Molenstede is also a very charming borough of Diest, with friendly people, the peace and beauty of the countryside, and yet close to the cultural and historical riches of Diest, Averbode and Scherpenheuvel. Now it is time for others to fully enjoy this lovely house and its blissful gardens. It is all ‘made to last’, so do use it.
